Resolume stops loading decks

well i have been getting same problem with v2.3 after almost 2 years of fault free operation and it started about a week ago

i have done a little bit of work here to establish when the condition starts by starting right from the bottom up and slowly but surely add in things until it goes into fault mode - this involved rebooting the machine each time i had made a change and it worked to establish if it still worked after re-starting

for me as long as i dont select 2nd monitor out in windows and have no s-video connection from the laptop then i can start resolume and get decks to load to slots automatically as they should - other decks can be dragged and dropped or double clicked into the highlighted slot

if i add my codanova it continues to work

if i select 2nd monitor under windows it is still fine

as SOON as screen output is selected in resolume and the apply button is clicked resolume resets itself and at that point fault mode is reached

dont know if this is going to help

all i can say is like some others this fault is intermittent and unpredictable as sometimes when restarting the machine after this it does work properly - but a restart isnt a guarantee of sorting it out

Maybe an extended logging/tracing feature would help to track the bug down. One with more detailed information on each action that resolume program is attempting to perform. Then users that are having problems can help to pinpoint the issue.

We know that this is very annoying bug, and also one that is very hard to debug because of it's random behavior. We have already rewritten the deck system for Resolume 3. Decks are now stored in xml files so it's actually (sort of) readable for a humans. This should make it easier to fix bugs in the future. We will definitely release Resolume 3 this year but we do know exactly when, it's a lot of work because Resolume 3 is quite an ambitious project

as a thought - this seems to be a bug that has only appeared recently

this makes me think there is an external cause as it wasnt or didnt seem to be present for the last 2 years at least

my suggestion is that maybe a quicktime update or something similar has in some way impacted on resolume?

Topher was right about changing both monitors to 16bit before opening resolume. Cheers! However contrary to what you said, it fixed both bugs here...the messed up state and the non loading of decks.

It seemed like it was card related, im on an ATI mobility radeon _ like yourself. Because with a second monitor running, only 2 or 3 decks would load. With the second display turned off in software but the cable still attached, all but 2 would load, and with the cable disconnected aswell, they would all load. Sounds odd but i was able to do it a few times!

I guess this has something to do with less graphics memory being used with only one screen going. Changing the displays from 32 to 16bit worked.

well here is a thing and reaffirms my belief that it is a 23-24 month time period that causes the fault to kick in

using the same installer for 2.3 - same serial i have installed it onto another machine and it works fine and has done since i started looking into this in january

the other machine that has had the install for 23-24 months - i formatted the hdd - reinstalled from the bottom up used the same installer and serial as above and the problem is still there

both machines running on same service packs and same versions of all background apps Resloume is likely to access - quicktime etc

ths really does lead me to think it is something to do with a clock

what is even odder is when i install v2.41 from the website downloader and install the problem is still there

could the app be updating from the site here and that 23-24 months time period is the key to the problem?

"Topher's advice" [playing w the 16/32 bit] was helping for a really short time.
also trying to set user [windows] dedicated to resolume didn't work
formating didn't help here either
it does work on my new computer
but on my 1 year old computer it already does that decks horror trick.
