Frame drop when changing decks
Frame drop when changing decks
Every time I change decks the output slows down to a near stop. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Re: Frame drop when changing decks
Yes I've seen that too.
Re: Frame drop when changing decks
As much as I love this program that strikes me as a rather fatal flaw. Any possible solutions?
Re: Frame drop when changing decks
This doesn't happen on my machine.
The thumbnails take a while to come up in the deck I'm switching to, but the output carries on without any noticable pause, even when there are lots (20 columns) of clips in the decks.
Are you guys on Windows or OSX? I'm on Windows.
Dan.

Re: Frame drop when changing decks
I'm on XP Pro and this is one of the most urgent fixes - I use lots of clips across lots of decks and the drastic slowdown on deck changes is a real problem ... if I'm running at about 35-40 fps it's not uncommon to get a slowdown to less than 10 fps on changing decks. I have a 7200 rpm HD which is defragmented ...
This really needs to be improved!
Thanks
Richard

Re: Frame drop when changing decks
Just done some more testing and I do get an FPS drop while switching decks.
Normally it's not enough to cause the output to noticably stall but when I have lots of layers, effects and so on in use it is noticable.
The number of clips in a deck does not affect the level of the drop but it does determine how long the drop is there for.
It is innevitable that loading a new deck will consume some computer resources but hopefully the guys can either make it more efficient or sort it out so that it is throttled so as not to affect the output to a point it is a problem (not sure about everyone else but for me, that point is 25fps) - I'd rather it take a few seconds more to load a new deck than for the FPS to drop below 25.

Re: Frame drop when changing decks
on my macbook pro its the same for me and the most time i get a crash after switching decks too.
its very frustrating to restart the programm every 5 minutes - for me its far away from stable.

Re: Frame drop when changing decks
I get slowdowns to as slow as 3fps on many different operations, including changing decks. Sometimes I get slowdowns when I simply select a new clip to play. I am on windows vista x64.
