MIDI implementation

hey all -

i've only used resolume a bit, but have decided it's the best choice for a couple upcoming rock tours i'll be doing...can anybody give me the scoop on MIDI capabilities?

with keyboard-assignable video files i don't see the use for MIDI...it seems like a standard QWERTY keyboard would leave more than enough options for file assignment - what am i missing? thanks!

most people use the sliders and rotary knobs on a midi device to operate the sliders in resolume ... which works much faster then grabbing and sliding with the mouse ...

ok, makes sense. can anybody recommend a good MIDI controller that doesn't use the typical piano model? i'd prefer something that is just sliders, knobs, and buttons; without black/white piano keys. thanks again,

Also it seems that with MIDI keyboard you can play clip in any channel (not just active channel, as with PC keyboard). Haven't tried it yet, however.

I know you don't like the keyboard-look but still, you might want to take a look at the edirol pcr-30, pcr-50 and pcr-80. They are [one of] the best midi-tools for resolume! Mine's coming in next wednesday

Check out the novation remote25 - its probably the best Price VS. Features midi controller I've come across. Check out (I know this is a store - the first thing google came back with):

For $US400 - you get a full selection of switchs, nobs, sliders, keys, dials AND a kaos pad.... most of which would be assignable in resolume. Also it has USB and 3 midi ports (In/Out1/Out2) allowing you to send to your PC and a V4.

If your worried about the looks - take it to pieces, paint it black and stencil flames on it - that'd make it go way faster......

i would love assign my effect on the pcr-30 key but just 3 or 4 key works. Have you got an idea. Thanks in advance !

i've the midi react controler from netzteil dedicate for Resolume....
this is the best you can have !.....

The Bitstream controller from CME looks really good. Loads of control, sliders, rotaries, buttons all sorts! It apparently has a motion sampler and looper allowing you to record your actions and loop them in interesting ways. Like all their controllers it is supposed to be really sturdy and could certainly withstand a rock tour unlike many other controllers which can feel a bit flimsy.
