temperatures of mbp laptop

Post by Basic »

Hey Guys,

Ive just bought my MBP 15'4 i7 7200rpm.

Im running avenue 3 layers @ 640x480 and im using smcfancontrol to gauge temperatures and see if its getting too hot.

the current temp is 77-83c is this too hot for my mbp? im new to the world of mac and fried my last computer with high temps at a constant rate.

my mac is propped up so air is getting to it but i do not have a stand yet.

are these temps normal?

Thanks

They do get hot, I have been using SMC fan control too which lets you set your fan speed manually, no problems yet been running it at 4-5k during shows, keeps the temp around the same as yours. (2.5 years and a few hundred shows and counting)

Running two setups, my mobile: MBP 2.5GHz core duo with the GeForce 8600M GT 512mb. and the club system: PC servers(6, with 2 running avenue) Core i7 940 2.93GHz, GeForce GTX 280 1gig, GeForce GTX 250, 2 1tb drives, 2 64gb ssd's, 2 th2go, no really good capture cards yet (have a bunch of BM intensity pro's but drivers don't work with MB/CPU yet, using a cheap Hauppauge card for now). Codecs: DXV and Photo Jpeg.

wow thats amazing! i would love a proper rig like that!

I had the gig with it and the temp stayed at about 57 the whole time. i was using smcfan control too and put it to a higher rpm and i think it helped!

I think th2go is the next step for me. ive made a good couple of hundred th2g clips i just need to test them out :)
