Empty composition file

Post by dwanewerx »

I opened a composition file after not using it for a few weeks. All images and settings were gone. Only material I recorded during the set was still there. The file still weight 1.4 mb so I presume its not totally empty.

Is there any way to repair the file?
Thanks!

Files and clips are not stored inside a composition, only the path's to those files... So.. did you move your images/files to another path/location ? Are they on external drive which isn't connected?

If you're on windows: The recordings are saved by default to the Resolume/recordings folder inside your documents and settings... Probably you did'nt move those.. so they show up.

Don't know for sure that's the problem, but it's a possibility.

Yes, composition and recordings are in Resolume default folder.

All my mediafiles are in one folder. I might have moved that folder around. Have been trying to put it in different places and opened Resoulume without any changes.

If this is a case of broken paths. Isn´t there any info in resolume like what the correct path should be or a way to update paths?

Unfortunately there's no such option...

However there is a workaround... You could open de composition file using a texteditor with search and replace function to edit the file paths...
Other way around, you open the composition file in a texteditor and see the correct (old) filepaths and put your files back there...

These options will only work if you did'nt change the filenames !! (In this case you have to change every line by hand/every file... and then again it's easier to make a new composition from scratch, i guess)

It's a known issue that -as far as i know- is on the to do list at Resolume HQ for version 4.

That was really good to know. Thanks. However it showed all my media files where not even listed inside the composition anymore.

So all settings and files are gone from the composition. Before I redo two weeks work, any other ideas on what might have happend?

Any chance posting your composition file as an attachment here?

My advise in this case is to send your problem (including the composition file and logfile from Avenue) to: support@resolume.com
