How old is your ccomputer? If it's a few years old and has never been opened up, you will have a lot of dirt on the fan intake, which makes your machine run hotter because it makes the air cooling process less efficient.
If this is the case, add to this a CPU\GPU intensive process like Resolume, as others have said, and your machine and especially the fan will be maxed out trying to keep things cool.
Yes, definitely worth checking your running temperatures with a utility of some kind.

No, the computer was new when i was having that problem. Further investigation, unveils that AMD processors heat up very much on heavy tasks. Simply adding a external fan, the problem goes away. I found a little desktop fan (USB powered) that was perfect for the task, and always carry it with me
