How do I map an external source?

Post by marius4560 »

Hi. I am new to this, but I have seen VJ's map their projections on things and I think it looks great, would love to learn how to do that to combine with my light shows (im a stagelight technician).

Basically, what I wanna do is run a visualization on my computer, and then be able to map it onto a surface via a projector. I want to be able to cut out parts of the image, and "bend" other parts to make it look threedimentional. Not sure about the right terminology, but you know, like how they bend the images around a box to make it look 3D.

Is this possible with Resolume? To map an external source (like windows media players visualization) onto a surface? If not, anyone know about a software that does exactly that?

Thanks for all answers :)

Hi There,

Yes this is all possible with Resolume Arena, get it downloaded and have a play. Im sure if you check youtube and Vimeo there will be mapping tutorials to give you an idea of whats possible. The great thing with Arena is its so powerful you can do a lot of great things.

Good luck and most importantly have fun! - any more questions post and ask or have a quick search. A lot of things have already been asked :)
