Project and Output Resolution (NewBie)

Post by toby »

Hey People,

since one week I am the proud owner of Resolume 4 Avenue. It takes days and nights and a lot of nerves to get it run. But at least with a graphic-driver downgrade to Catalyst 12.9 it works well.

I'm sorry if I bother you with my greenness but I really red the manual (I also red it again as recommended) and I was searching in the www for some answers for my NewBie-Questions. I didnt found any helpful tips. :(

The Questions are:

- What are best composition settings. Is there a "basic" one which you would recommend or should it always have the same as the clips are?

- Footage: I tried thousands of settings with the DXV Codec, Quicktime, 25fps, Square pix, 1024 x 768 and the result is so bad. What I'm doing wrong?

- How do I work with 16:9 and 4:3 footage? Is there also a autoscale-function to combine 4:3 and 16:9 footage?

- Is it in generally possible to combine different footage with a different resolution that every clip will be shown on the output-screen in the right size?

I really would appreciate it if someone could help me. So I can have a better sleep tonight!! :)

Thank you very much!!

Tobi

I generally use whatever the output resolution of the display surface is, then scale my content to match

bad how....how are you converting to DXV? Can't really assess the situation without more information

it depends on what your output aspect ratio is
Is there also a autoscale-function to combine 4:3 and 16:9 footage?
not that I know of, you'll have to scale each clip individually
- Is it in generally possible to combine different footage with a different resolution that every clip will be shown on the output-screen in the right size?
yes, provided you scale each clip to the output resolution of your screen

Thank you very muchtaking the time to answer these questions.

Well, I am using Adobe Encoder with the settings I wrote. I guess I do something wrong there :/

With the 4:3 and 16:9 footage I meant "how do I combine", but you answered it in the following question. Thank you! :)

Thank you very much again!

All the very best!
