Good video card for PCI E x16?
I am looking for a card that will work with PCI Express x16. not 2.0 or 3.0. I would like to run 3 1024x768 displays, out of a triple head. and a control monitor. or would it be best to go with a new motherboard?

a pci-e 2.0 card should also work on this slot... should be no problem...
but for example
everything above a 8800gt is overkill for the first generation of amd dual core cpu's for example...
i would suggest at least a 9800 geforce/4670 ati and a intel core dual processor or better...
expecially if you want to use more layers and high resolution content you'll need a better machine

Re: Good video card for PCI E x16?
I guess it does work! I have a nvidia geforce 9800gtx. how is it performance wise? it had 512mb of ram. my computer is the components of an HP m7580n in a server case, with 4 gb of ram (turned out to be 3.6) AMD Athlon 64 X2 (W) 4400+ 2.(5?) ghz with 7200 rpm hard drive. what is my limiting component here?

i think the combo of gpu and cpu is scaling quiet good...
just try to make a composition which runs about 25 fps and look at your cpu load.... if its 90% or more for the most of the time, the cpu could be a little bit too slow....
you should also be able to upgrade to a x4 cpu and a better graphic card if you need more performance...
