problem programming controller

Post by threezero »

So I just got a korg nanokontrol2. I'm having trouble mapping the forward/back/ pause and random. whenever i try to problem these button it seems to want to hit a different one. For example, when i have random program to a button, i would press that button what would happen is that it would go on random but as soon as i let out the button is would go backwards. when i try to program the forward button it would work until i lift my finger off than it would go in to backward sometimes random. I have try programming it in composition and application still does the same.

Also now that i have done some live gig, i find that i really want to do is control everything with just a controller. I find that i'm having trouble making sure that the right layer is selected. If i buy a bigger controller say the apc40 can i map it so the knob and fader will always control the layer i want it to control? Say right now i want to put some effect on a clip on layer 2, the effect i have in mind is set to the dashboard control which is map to one of my knob. what i have to do right now is
1. look at the screen to see which layer is select
2. if layer 2 is no selected press the corresponding button or use mouse to switch to layer 2
3. apply effect with knob

i find that mess with my flow, sometimes i make mistake at either step 1 or step 2 and i've either apply effect to the wrong layer or i miss it completely

It seems like there is no way to program it to the way i want, am i missing something? Want to know before i actually go out and get the controller

Make sure the Nano is sending midi notes (and not midi ccs) when pressing the buttons. You can change this in the Korg editor app. Also I think by default the Nano sends notes in scene 2 and 4.

Have you tried using Application Midi Map, deck focus?
