Arena: Scaling / Positioning & Advanced Output

Post by Andy_Funktioncreep »

I have an HD video capture to Arena, consisting of 4x SD camera feeds in a square arrangement (think security camera multi-monitor type image). I want to have each camera as a separate clip, so I can video mix between them... And also use the Advanced Output to map the composition.

If I don't used the Advanced Output, it's an easy task - Just using the clip properties on each of the 4 copies of the source to scale and position each clip.

However, using the Advanced Output, when a clip's scale and position have no effect, the only way I've found of doing it is to create 4 layers with the camera feed on each one, then create a slice for each layer and map each slice's input source / output transformation in the Advanced Output window.

Is there an easier way? Thanks ;)

advanced output is not what you are looking for.

make 4 copies of your camera clip,
use the crop effect to crop away 3 sources, on each of the 4.
then you can scale up the clip to desired size.

Cheers for that - Always forget just how useful the crop effect is. 8-)

For this comp, the advanced output is necessary to map the video on to the irregular surface I'm projecting on to.

However, right after trying that, I noticed that the scale and X/Y position are now working perfectly in the advanced output, so I think the fault was with the machine I was working on. Guess it's maybe time to do a reinstall...

Best,

A.
