3x 1024x768 to make one screen, whats resolution i need?

Post by Vjeclipse »

Hello! I am a rookie, and I'm starting on the video mapping, see if someone can help me with some doubts ...
I have 3 projectors 1024x768, I'm connected to a Matrox TripleHead, to make one screen 9x2,5 meters!
What is that resolution must have the videos to look good? What is that resolution must have composition resolume to look good ? I need the ratio is maintained, to make 3D video mapping, I prepared visuals in cinema 4d scale (9x2,5 meters) , but I do not know that the resolution I have to export.
Please someone can help me?
Thank you so much.

Forgive my English is not very good, I hope you understand my question ;)

3x1024-overlap sizes px horizontally
768 px vertically,
so for example of you overlap the slices 100 pixels, you would have a composition resolution of 2872x768

Thank you very much for answering!
The visuals have to be at that resolution of 2872x768?
4 layers can be moved to such a resolution?

go to
Composition menu- > settings-> size
to set the composition size, your layers will be this big too.

then render your videos at least at this resolution.
then in the advanced output you set up your slices so that they are 1024x768 pixels each and, overlap 100 pixels in the Input tab.

For your 9m x 2.5m screen I'd recommend an overlap of 154 pixels. This gives a resolution of 2765 x 767 which matches your aspect ratio nicely.

oh yes, I forgot about your fixed aspect ratio.
2765 = 768/2.5*9
and naturally you won't be able to align the projectors physically pixel perfect vertically, so you'll lose a few pixels from the height, but you can size slices keeping their aspect ratio while aligning them, thus keeping your end result correct aspect.

Thanks for all the information, I have just one more question, what is the resolution must have the videos in cinema 4d render?
