Overlapping MIDI assignments using multiple controllers

Post by psensibil »

Hi, all!

I've been using Resolume Avenue for a couple years, but have only recently started integrating MIDI controllers into my set. I started using an Akai Midimix a couple months ago and coupled it with a Novation Launch Control XL this past week.

As I started mapping and testing my MIDI assignments on the new controller, I noticed that the numbers of my CC's were overlapping with my old assignments (causing a singular knob to control the functions of multiple knobs). I believe assigning each controller to a separate channel would resolve my issue, but I haven't been able to figure it out myself or find the issue online.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sometimes you just need to ask the question and keep researching. For anyone that every finds themselves in my position... channel assignment is conducted internally in your MIDI controller. I downloaded the Launch Control XL Editor from Novation which allowed me to assign a channel to each individual button (why there isn't an easy way to assign the entire controller to a channel is beyond me). Regardless, this has successfully given me the ability to keep my two controllers from overlapping commands.
