Windows 10+ Arena 5+ no longer loading

Post by georgeberlin »

Hey there,

Been using Arena 5.01 for a few months, then in June it crashes on the load
screen and won't run anymore. 4.50 on Avenue runs fine on the same machine.

I upgraded to 5.04, that wouldn't run either. Back to 5.01, still won't run.

Latest Nvidia drivers then and now. Only thing that I changed was upgrading
some new Adobe Creative Cloud apps the week before. Can't really uninstall
those, as that's how I make all my stuff.

Running a GTX 770

Ideas?

Here's my machine specs:

Haha!

I'm a dummy- it was a simple thing.

Something pooped on my folder in Documents/Resolume 5.

Still don't know what- had some wonky power that week with
people shutting me down unintentionally so who knows?

Not sure what it was, but I renamed the current folder, then opened
Resolume after a fresh install and it made a new one and worked!

If Arena doesnt shut down properly - like a power failure, sometimes I think the advanced.xml in the screen settings gets cleared/corrupted and then Arena can crash upon starting. I am not sure if this still happens on the latest version or not. I always keep a backup of all the preferences files just in case something like that happens.

Indeed, the advanced.xml can get corrupted and in certain cases this can cause a crash during startup. Trashing that file should let Resolume start right up again.

This will also be fixed in the upcoming 5.1.0 release.
