Resolution and Issues for big output (30k lumens, 2048x1080)

Post by Aleatory »

Hi and thank for reading me (sorry for my english).

I will work on project where the output will be a big video projector of 30k resolution in order to map on a 15 meter tall pyramid.

I do not use any video or image but only source / effect and kinect kind device, and i would like to know what danger to avoid.

My main question is about resolution:

My output will be a 30k resolution projector, do i need to increase resolume composition resolution to match that 30k? Or Resolume just create source/effect following the size of output?
My only fear is to have full of pixelised animations ...
Exemple: If my comp is 1920x1080, does it will be rendered good on this 30k projector?

Is there any other important thing to keep in mind with this kind of big projection? This is my first time .. i never touch a projector like that.

Hi Aleatory,
could it be that you misunderstood your client? :)
there is no projector out there with a 30K "resolution".... but...there are projectors out there with the light intensity of 30K Ansi lumen which have nothing to do with the resolution.

Could that be?

Best wishes

Yes, sorry, after some research, the projector would be, so 2048 x 1080:

And i understood that problem could be the pc on which resolume is running.

My conf is:

OSX - El Capitan
Intel Quad-core I7 4ghz
32g of DDR5 RAM
2 x EVGA GeForce GT 740 4GB GDDR5
500g SSD

There seems to be some confusion here. 30K typically refers to brightness and not resolution so are you talking about a 30,000 lumen projector?

For the record, 2048x1080 is 2K resolution.

Why don't you set your comp and all animations to 2048x1080 which is the native resolution of your projector.

Pixel size will depend on the size of your image and being able to see pixels will depend on how far your viewers are from your image. For instance, if your image is 20.48mx10.80m each pixel will be 1cmx1cm (~0.4inx0.4in).
