Two mandatory effects removed in R6.

Post by Aleatory »

I'm on new R6 from some day, and i just realize that two of my favorite (and most use) effect were removed from R6:
- Luma Wave
- Pixel in Space

I use resolume only for creating generative design, and these two effect are just mandatory.
I will use R6 for ligth setup, but will continu to use R5 for the rest, despite of loving clip group, friendly-color and new amazing effect ... so sad.

If i would have a question. Why removing these two cool effect? Is there a possibility to create my own from R5 ffgl effect? I cant do without these two fake-3D effects.

We've had a little chat about open sourcing the code for these two effects. The problem is that they use really old OpenGL code, that we're trying very hard to move away from.

The FFGL repo already uses a lot of grandpa legacy code, that we will need to update at some point. There is a line of thought that says "hey, it's open source, not our problem, you deal with it", but we care too much about FFGL to take that stance. So adding more legacy code that eventually will need to be updated is just not an option.
