Different Layers in different clumns - possible?

Hi there,

I have a mapping project which needs many layers. To not lose oversight i would wish to have different layers in different columns. Though, when I delet a layer in colum B, colum A still has that layer though once i go back to colum B, that deleted layer is there again...

Am I doing something wrong, or isn't it possible to have different layers in different columns?
