hello everyone,
this is a fairly old threat, but i'll reanimate it with a question: has anyone running resolume 2.x with midi support in ubuntu/wine? i'm currently trying to get it to work, but it's kinda only semi-working. i can't really say atm what the core of the problem seems to be, so i was jsut hoping for general tips.
thanks everone.

You could try a virtual machine with GPU passthrough https://passthroughpo.st/new-and-improv ... he-basics/

Re: RESOLUME+UBUNTU+WINE
thanks for the reply.
so you saying i should try macos virtualmachine on ubuntu rather than emulate it with wine?
cus I would try it with wine first (if its possible) cus i don't have 64Gb free space.
but thank you for the headsup anyway!
köszi

Re: RESOLUME+UBUNTU+WINE
A try with Wine could be faster, but I doubt Wine will support opengl properly. A macOS install is only a few GB, if you can mount your footage folder from the host, you don't need 64 GB space for the guest OS.

Re: RESOLUME+UBUNTU+WINE
I've just installed Wine 6.0 on Ubuntu 20.04 with Avenue 7.3.2. It works fine out of the box, no hassle to launch it. The included stock DXV clips play fine, probably because the codec is included in the app. My own h264 mp4 clips do not play, though. I'll try installing media players as an earlier commenter suggested, and if I get it fully working, I'll post some more complete instructions. This is pretty promising so far, though.
I don't recommend trying to install in a VM at all. VMWare Workstation supports opengl 4.1, so it seemed like it might work, but the Windows version of Avenue failed to install correctly because it couldn't find the Vulkan dll. Vulkan is probably not something that will virtualize well, or at least isn't supported well yet by VMWare. Virtualbox doesn't support recent versions of OpenGL so probably won't work at all until they improve that.

A video I encoded myself in DXV does work too, so that's an option if you want to convert all your source material. These reports from the Wine testing database show them just playing the included DXV clips too, so my guess is that's all they tested: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=39557
None of the various methods of installing Windows Media Player did me any good for playing h264 mp4s. The closest I got was by using winetricks (available via apt) to install mf i.e. MediaFoundation, which Resolume is definitely going to need, based on the description here: https://resolume.com/support/en/video
There are some "mediafoundation fixes" that gamers sometimes use to make Wine play videos better, but those didn't get me any further than regular winetricks mf. Once that was installed, I could see that Avenue was at least trying to load my mp4 file, rather than completely ignoring it, but then it crashed.
If we could disable the request to MediaFoundation and let ffmpeg handle it, that would be nice, but I'm not going to patch the binary to do that. I bet you could change just a few instructions, but that's too much like my day job to sound like any fun.
Giving up on Wine for now since I don't want to convert everything to DXV. But if you don't mind that, it's worth trying.

Nice work!
Programs in emulators are always hit and miss. The best would be if Resolume could run natively on linux, right?
Resolume can play DXV without any third party apps or codecs, so that would be the best to use. Also because of the GPU decoding.
