Wire: 7.9.0: Hangs when kill Export window during export (suggest feature Cancel button)

It might not be a recommended action, but this is worth reporting. Wire hangs if you "kill" the Export window during an Export by clicking the red close window icon circle ("traffic light"), which you might wish to do if an Export is taking far too long.

Feature request: It might good to introduce an official Cancel button during export.

Interesting, for me, when I close the export, the file is finished, and I get control back. Does Wire recover for you too eventually?

Nope, have to kill process, and I've tried waiting for minutes. Big Sur 11.6.2 (20G314). Machines can have a lot of specific that make them behave differently.

In any case, an official Cancel button with robust handling and maybe partly rendered file deletion is not a bad idea.

Is this happening with the same patch that hangs your machine when switched to 16 bits, or does it happen for you also with a really simple one?

It seems to happen with all and any, including smaller ones, and 8bpc.

BTW My iMac 5K machine does not "hang" when I switch to 16 bpc, it just gets painfully slow (especially when using Grid Pattern). And I encountered the problem before switching to 16 bpc.

Resolume Clip Render has a nice queue with a [x] cross to cancel exports and clean up. Final Cut Pro also has a similar Background Tasks dialog with exports under Sharing, with a nice little [x] cross to cancel exports and clean up (removes partially exported file).

I appreciate this matter is not high priority.

Wire has a cancel button too, it seems though it doesn't really cancel the export.
