hi all.
i've been asked by a festival LD "for the output of your media server so I can map it"... i already told them I use Resolume Avenue 6 on a PC (and output form the stage to their large screen at the back of the stage via HDMI)...
Before arriving at the venue and plugging in, I'm not sure what I can send as an "output to map" -- any ideas?
Are they thinking... I record a section of the show (which is set to the dimensions of their screen) and send that, perhaps?
"the output of your media server" needed - what to send?

Avenue doesn't support slices so I guess the first question would be, is it 1 screen/canvas you will be performing on or are there several slices/screens?
The festival is suppose to give you, THEIR output map so you know how to setup your slices in Advanced Output.
I would get with your (or the festivals) PM for more info

thanks so much, Avrol

For a straightforward single screen setup, Fullscreen is usually the option you want. Resolume will fill the complete window with its output.
yeah just one screen, no slices/multiple screens/etc. for me... - so I figure that, in theory, I plug in and use the full-screen option, as set out here, right:Arvol wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2023 14:36 the first question would be, is it 1 screen/canvas you will be performing on or are there several slices/screens?

Yeah, just extend your screen and send a fullscreen output. If you're using projectors you're done. If you're using LED wall the festival will need to scale and position your output, OR, you can try to do it using the compositions scale and x/y offset. (LED walls are rarely smpte standard resolutions, ie. 720p, 1080p, so you will need to shrink your output to fit the LED pixel count and then move the x/y to start where the LED tech started the mapping)

Thanks again Arvol.
So I agreed with the festival that I would send single composition output, fullscreen.
They told me their on-stage screen was 576x276, so I built the composition to that.
But they've now said they would rather I outputted in 1920x1080, and they handle the resizing to the screen themselves.
Which I guess is more logical? (Although I will now need to rework the composition back to 1920x1080...)

Yeah, most likely they have a Folsom or some sort of scaler/switcher in-line. Sounds like a nice easy day at the office <3
