You could also do it like this:

In the top layer you put the cameras in clips next to each other. Then in the layers beneath you also load the cameras but bypass the layers, they are only used for monitoring. Then assign the monitors to those layers so you can preview. Then use the column tiggers to switch between cameras.

To make it fancy I created a little wire effect that is applied to each clip in the monitoring layers that renders either the red or green border.
