Working on a projection show away from the projector
Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
I'm a PC user, so afraid the imultiviewer won't work for me.
Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
If you're on a PC, Syphon won't work either then but there might be a similar approach using Spout.
Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
I do have an ipad. Any solution anyone can envision that would allow me to see a mock up of the projection on the ipad?
Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
Spout or NDI would be your best solution for using an iPad as an external display.
Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
Teamviewer is another possible solution for viewing solely the projection display on an iPad screen (a la advanced output).
Dinga, are you suggesting a setup like Spout -> NDI and then some kind of NDI viewer app on an iPad?

There is an option to only view a specific screen. Has worked very well for me in the past. I bought the full version, but I do recall there being a free version with that capability.

lightbx, You can output your entire comp to spout and then open the NDI tools and send Spout out over NDI. Then on your iPad you can open the broadcast via NDI viewer.
I'm not tooooo familiar with Spout to Syphon, TCPspout say's they're compatible to you might be able to just skip NDI completely and go out Spout and have Syphon view opened on the iPad, Buty again, I'm not too familiar with how well those two talk to each other.

Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
Thanks for the advice. I've been getting really into networked video, both for work, and out of my own interest in expanding my digital signage capabilities.
What are NDI tools? Do they come packaged with Spout? I haven't used a PC in many months now...saving up for my own machine.
I'll check out NDI Viewer and Syphon View for iPad. iOS + Syphon / Networked video sounds really appealing. No need for me to cross Spout and Syphon just yet.

" TCPSpout is compatible with the communication protocol TCPSyphon running on OSX, it allows output image from VJ software on both of OSX and Microsoft Windows to exchange alternatively. "
IMO, I'd just try the TCPSout before messing with NDI

Re: Working on a projection show away from the projector
That's awesome –– cross platform GPU rendering over TCP that is –– I'll definitely be diving in. I recently have been playing with TCPSyphon for some light R&D on digital signage.
How exactly does the iPad come into play as a viewer?
