Just updated to latest version 7.14.2 REV 22221 and looked at this again...
I create a new composition and use 'Command S' to save it, with the dialog box I name and then save the composition. If I then use 'Command S' at this point I see that the composition menu item is highlighted. If I add a clip and try to save it again using 'Command S' it does not highlight anymore. That's on MacOS Ventura. On Windows 10 there's no highlighting.
No visual indication when saving composition

Re: No visual indication when saving composition
You can be sure that nobody intentionally programmed this. This was an UI "artifact" for years.
I sometimes also used it like kind of like an indicator for "saving done" or ..."I can continue my work now again". Why does it bother you so much? - Just do your CMD+S stuff....and trust in it.
Has it ever happened to you that your composition wasn't saved?

What bothers me is inconsistency...
After playing a bit more, I see that upon making certain changes (such as adding layers) the highlighting works as expected when I save, but when I'm only making changes to clips it does not.

I feel insecure whenever I saved via shortcut Ctrl+S, too. Maybe consider adding this feature for me instead of him lol?
