Hi There,
We are trying to track down the midi-lag issue, we did find some issues but none big enough to cause such a lag. So we need as much info as we can get to be able to fix it.
Could everyone that experiences this problem send me his/hers composition. I would like to have a look at the .xml (don't need the actually audio/video files) to see if i spot something odd regarding the shortcuts that are set.
Send it to mail (at) resolume (dot) com
thanx in advance.
Slow reaction from controller?

Edwin,
Have you tried my testing procedure?

Re: Slow reaction from controller?
hi gbravetti,
Yes we did, we do get a lag, it doesn't have to with a specific channel though.
So have some hunches and would like to look at the composition files to see if we can get a better clue on what's going on.
gbravetti,
Could you also check for me what the size is of the contextual mapping files.
They are in your user documents folder.
document/resolume Arena 4/preferences/
they are called
contextualDmxShortcuts.xml
contextualKeyboardShortcuts.xml
contextualMidiShortcuts.xml
contextualOscShortcuts.xml
i would like to know the size of these files, if they are bigger than let's say 20kb there might be an issue here.

Re: Slow reaction from controller?
Hi Edwing,
From two machines:
contextualMIDIShortcuts: 36Kb - 37Kb
contextualKeyboardShortcuts: 138Kb - 139Kb
contextualDmx Shortcuts: 116Kb - 119Kb
contextualOSCShortcuts: 252bites - 4Kb
Also there are several conflicted copies (user conflicted copy AAAA-MM/DD), some of them are a lot bigger, for example:
contextualMIDIShortcuts (user name's conflicted copy AAAA-MM-DD) 1.5MB

1.5 mb, ahhh!!! That's not good.
Somehow composition shortcuts get stored in the application map files. Those shortcuts will be loaded on starup, they won't do anything though but will make the list of shortcuts Resolume has to loop trough so big that you certainly get a lag.
Could you try deleting/moving those files (also the 100kb ish ones) and see if you still get this lag.

Re: Slow reaction from controller?
Ok Edwin,
It seems it is related to those xml files, actually just the MIDI one.
After removing contextualMIDIShortcuts from the prefs dir, all seems to work normally.
Now I have two questions:
- It seems that midi mapping is stored there but even after removing, midi mapping is preserved on the composition even after reopen/reloaded, so: What is the purpose of that file? What I loose if I remove it?
- I had this problem in more than 3 Apple computers, why you think this can be happening? I mean, the excessive growing of that file.
Best!

Re: Slow reaction from controller?
There was a major bug in the midi mapping (probably introduced somewhere in the 4.1 update), which we spend all week last week fixing.
To answer your other question: the contextualMIDIShortcuts file stores changes to the application midi map.

Good!
Looking forward for the update!
