I have tried many vj apps and always come back to Reso.
...OK so what about sound playback?
If you guys could get that going reso would be THE VJ app.
I can fudge this with anumber of other tools but no one has nailed lip synch/scratching.
maybe I'm out on a limb here...

resolume 2.0: let us know what you think
Codecs! I was so pissed that I had to convert all the nice edited .mov's (sorenson/compnent) to .avi (cinepak) to use with Resolume.
Can we please have support for whatever codecs are loaded on my system - just like my most basic video editing software.
While I appreciate that some are going to be problematic performance-wise, I'd like it if the choice of format/codec for use with Resolume, be my decision, not Resolume's.
Thanks

you need to understand that Quicktime is NOT a codec. Quicktime is a format for wrapping the encoded video stream with additional metadata, in the same way as .avi.
Personally, I would _much_ rather than resolume supports a single video meta-format (.avi) well than for the developers to make compromises in order to support quicktime.
We do get a huge choice of codecs with our .avis - I've got at least thirty codecs installed on my machine that I could choose to use with resolume and that's only scratching the surface.
Please, resolume developers, concentrate on resolume doing what it does well rather than trying to support every format under the sun. Don't hurt performance and features for the rest of us because some people are too lazy to convert their content to a suitable format.

I really hope that res. 3 will support whatever codecs are installed on my system and not just cinepak avi!
My vid clips are in .mov component/sorenson (for another excellent bit of software!) and I'd like to stop having to making 2 copies of everything.
I think it should be up to me to decide what codecs work best with my system and not be confined by Resolume in any way.

mate, I explained it to you once already! Resolume DOES support multiple codecs. Any video for windows compatible .avi codec should work just fine.
For example , we use indeo (much nicer than cinepak) and I know some people swear by various motion JPEG variants.
Supporting quicktime files is different to supporting different codecs. Quicktime is not just a different codec (in fact, many quicktime codecs are the same as video for windows codecs)
If the resolume guys were to add quicktime support to resolume, it would mean they would have to double up on video loading and playing code.
They would have to double up on debugging video loading and playing code.
They would have to double up on optimising video loading and playing code.
They would have to double up on supporting video loading and playing code.
That would mean more time spent on dupliacting work between video for windows and quicktime code and less time spent building new features and making the existing ones better.
Sure, it would be nice not to be confined in any way, but unfortunately this is the real world. Live performance software has to make compromises. I am much happier to compromise on video formats (batch converting content overnight is really not a problem) than to compromise on features or performance.
Try some different .avi codecs - there is a lot more than cinepak out there....
