Currently Resolume will only open to the last open composition.
Double clicking on an .AVC file should open the associated file like most other programs, but still opens last open comp.

a work around for now:
Hold down strg+n while opening resolume opens a blank composition.

Yeah, we agree this behaviour could be improved. It's not a showstopper, but it would be one of those things that just makes your life a lot easier.
