Timing clips per layer

Post by RHD »

I have a bit of an issue I could use some suggestions on.

Layer 1 are my background animations (Approximately 30, 2 min clips)
Layer 2 are my still photographs

I would like to have layer 1 clips play or loop for this example 6 mins each. All animation clips are 2 mins in length. I do not want the clips to play slower to make them 6 mins I want them to play at the speed they were created at.

I would like the layer 2 photos to "Alpha in" then display for 30 seconds then fade away BUT I do not want another layer 2 picture clip to come in for another 2 mins.

I am playing all clips on both layers in order.

Is the proper way to do this to replicate the layer 1 clips for 3 columns to create 6 mins then on layer 2 after each picture have five or so transparent images before the next real picture renders?

Of course this will produce two layers of several hundred clips long which seems wasteful unless there is some way to control this automation and transitions that I have yet to find?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
RHD

Being first and foremost VJ software, Resolume does not yet have any 'scripting' or 'timeline' features that would make this simpler. Your approach is probably the most straightforward.

If you want to do this with the help of external software, Vezer has excellent scripting capabilities, and works like a charm with Resolume.

A workaround which might help you a bit.

If you want to loop each of your 2 min clips in layer 1 for 6 min...just make 3 copys of each clip side by side and activate autopilot.

To have a 2 min. gap between every picture on layer 2 just insert some complete transparent PNG's and set their playbacktime to a time that fit your needs...then place your second layer 2 picture after them.

It's a bit fiddly ...but it works.
