Hello all,
im new to vj software and trying different apps at the moment.
resolume arena is a favorite so far, i like the workflow cause its
similar to ableton live, which im familiar with.
What im trying to do is mainly based on circles.
As an example: http://dvdp.tumblr.com/
I think that the source called "Simple Shape" would be the best way to realize this.
Unfortunately the demo version on both OS´s doesnt include this source.
I only know about its existence from this screenshot:
https://resolume.com/manual/start?id=en/r4/sources
Is that a feature that comes only in the full version of resolume, or maybe a 3rd party plugin?
I cant find any further infos about this, any help is much appreciated.
Also if you know another way to create circles in resolume, im happy to hear your ideas!
Simple Shape - Source is missing
Re: Simple Shape - Source is missing
I don't think Simple Shape is available anymore.
If you are referring to the demo version, there shouldn't be any difference between versions besides the visual and aural bugsIs that a feature that comes only in the full version of resolume, or maybe a 3rd party plugin?

create a png/jpeg mask with a white circle on black background, save without alpha channel, put this mask on a square Solid color source or Gradients.Peng wrote: Also if you know another way to create circles in resolume, im happy to hear your ideas!
you could use the vignette effect to create a curcular mask too.

I tried this and had bad results with a png when i scaled it down.
It becomes very pixelated when its smaller than the original size.
I was thinking to add vectors in a svg maybe, is that supposed to work?
The vignete idea is great, infortunately its not very flexible.
Ideally i would find a way to transform the lines source into dots / circles.
This would be most flexible.

This means i could be lucky in a very old version?
Is there a source for version 2 anywhere to download?
Re: Simple Shape - Source is missing
the png mask will fit itself to the size of your clip, so if you gave a png ,say 2048x2048 pixels size and your clip is 200x200 pixels the mask will scale down automatically, and you can then resize the clip with transform controls.Peng wrote:I tried this and had bad results with a png when i scaled it down.

or if you drag the mask after the transform then the mask will have the layers' dimensions and you can resize the clip within.
what size/resolution circles do you need?
edit: also mac or PC?

Re: Simple Shape - Source is missing
This works flawless, thank you ravensc!
First i was puzzled about the aspect ratio, but then i found the resize / maximize button that can be clicked multiple times
to adjust the size.
