Beat synced content?

I'm been doing VJ work for a few years, but also producing some content of my own. I've found through my own work that there is a need for beat-synced content. Audio analysis can only go so far for modulating video, and I've had to create my own perfectly trimmed loops to specific BPMs, and certain lengths of measures/bars in musical time. Like myself, more VJs (and DJs) are using MIDI to drive musical time/sync during a performance, (or they are using something like Ableton Live) and so tempos and video can always stay in sync. Audio "loops" in the music world often are perfectly edited and trimmed to be perfect loops for a specific tempo - why not the same for video?
