No sound on a video, strange

Post by strophe »

Hi everyone,

We are testing Arena 5 for a stage video server (for theatrical show) before buying the licence, and we have a very strange behavior...

With a video encoded in DXV3.01 and sound uncompressed 44.1Khz 16bits, the audio doesn't come with the vidéo (no waveform, no audio infos et controls on clip panel).

But with the same video : on a macbook pro (with Arena 5), no problems, on another PC (win7, same arena install file), no problem, we cans see waveform, audio infos & controls, and listen to audio.

The config with problem : I7 3rd Gen, Asus Maximus V, 16Go, asus Nvidia GTX580, WIN7 Ultimate fresh install (we need 7 because some software who does'nt work on 10, like rtp_MIDI, UVnc mirror driver). Everything else works well, no problems with sound etc.
But wioth the example.avc demo session, no problems with audio.
Here Arena doesn't recognize audio track..... strange...

Now, we must play the audio track sperately on other layer, and trig the column to play both audio+video.

Is there someon here no something about this issiue ??

Thank you

What’s your audio settings in Arena preferences?

Have you tried to reinstall Quicktime?

As a note, I had a similar problem during a show I did In NY a few months ago and we could never figure out why it happened but it had something to do with the computer that encoded the DXV file. If I re-encoded the file on a different server, the file worked fine.

Normally its based on the audio encoder library i've noticed.

If you send over that file to mail@resolume.com, we'd love to take a look at it.

Thank you
Sorry, but.. isn't a recommended tip to load the audio as separate wav file, and just throw it over the dxv clip?
In any case there's not need to trig a column, right?

The DXV file's audio track should play, if it's indeed uncompressed wave in one file.
If it's not playing there is something set wrong in the encoder, or on Resolume's side.
We can check the latter, but we need the file that's not playing correctly.
Thanks!
