PiP border , ffgl effect?

I've searched the forum, and the web, bud i still haven't found a simple solution to get a simple 2 pixel wide border (color white) around a layer or clip.
This would be great for the live camera input, when combined with the drop shadow effect.
But at this moment, the only way to do it (as i see it ) is to put a layer behind the clip/input that is just a bit bigger that the front layer and put a white still on it ... but this is of course very time and resources consuming. So am i missing something? is there a ffgl effect that just ads a simple straight border to your clip or layer ?

You could do this with a videowall effect, screens set to 0, blackBg On, zoom set to 1, and gapsize to >0 on the clip before transform,
you resize and position with clip transform, and add the drop shadow effect on the layer after transform.
Much simpler in R6, just put the videowall effect on the layer, before transform, and the drop shadow after transform.

that's a good start, but then the border is always black, correct ? The idea is to have a white border around the Pip... (like you can do on a Roland V-800 mixer, Encore, Spyder ...)

yes, 2 invert effects in the right place could solve that also, one before the videowall and one after.

BTW, are you using Resolume 6 or 5?
In Resolume 6 you can do a setup where you can color the bounds, if you don't mind losing a few pixels of the original image.
on the layer:
- crop effect, set to 15 pixels each side,
- solid color effect show image enabled,
- transform effect to place and size where you want the overlay,
- drop shadow effect to finish up.
