Playback with reverse opacity FX

Baby bug here. Not really an issue since the fix is so easy, but wanted to bring it to your attention.

Had a client call me that one of the video's they were playing has a bit of blackout before the clip plays.

I looked into this and they had a clip set to play forward and end with the clip cutting to black (Resolume end clip option.)
The had an Opacity modifier turned on and set to Timeline. The also set this to an Inverse feature, with the starting value being .3 and the end value being 1.0 (with reverse, it starts at 1.0 and ends at .3 over the duration of the clip).

Just like in Strobe, if your frequency is set to 1.0 you just get a solid black screen. So I moved the end value from 1.0 to .99 and this fixed the problem.

Where as before they would get about .5-1 second of audio with no video and then the video starts (still in sync with the audio), now the video starts exactly with the audio.

Just a small bug (Or just the way they are setting their parameters). Wanted to bring it to your attention. You can place this at the very bottom of the barrel if it even needs to be addressed?

Thanks guys.

Opacity modifier
set this to an Inverse feature
frequency is set to 1.0
I don't know of any effects (because I assume that by modifier you mean effect) called Opacity that has Invert and Frequency parameters.

Post a screenshot maybe?

Sorry haha.
Here's a picture of what's been setup on the clip:

Image

Basically, when their clip is loaded, the video starts off black for a half second then comes on, all the while, the audio starts off normal. The video doesn't kick in, out of sync, everything is still in sync, it's just making the video go black before going to 100% opacity when they set the opacity modifier fx to "clip position"

So rather than setting the in and out point to 30-100, i set it to 30-99 and this fixed the issue.
What made me think of this and try it, was referring back to the strobe fx.
If you add a strobe FX to a clip and turn the frequency up to 100 the strobe doesn't work, you just get a black image, however, if you turn the strobe frequency to .99 it will strobe as fast it can strobe. I used that logic to apply to the opacity bug I was having. thinking, maybe a 100 value is causing it to go black rather than to go fully bright.

Honestly, setting the opacity to 99 and moving it to 100 has no noticeable difference, so I'm good. my clients up and running and happy.

just wanted to bring this to you guys, in-case you see it being a larger issue than the little thing I found?

With these settings, I'm expecting the clip to be at 100% opacity at the start of the clip, then go down linearly to be at 30% when it reaches its end. Is that not what you're seeing?

That's what it should do in theory haha.
When the clip is triggered, it goes black for half a second THEN goes to 100 down to 30. The audio still comes on instantly when the clip is triggered, but for that half a second there is no video to accompany the audio.

If you need the specific video file that's causing this (DXV3) I can try to get it to you later tomorrow (Client is in different time zone and I typically can't remote in until about 10pm)

Just shot you an email with a few links, as well as a video demonstration of the problem.

Thanks :)
