Dmx Fixtures with RGBAW+UV

We are seeing a lot more pixel mappable fixtures with 6 channel LED’s Red, Green, Blue, Amber, White, UV.

All the available options are max 5 channels per pixel.

Even if Resolume doesn’t use UV can we have this as another fixture pixel count option please?

You can manually add in a blank spacer channel in the meantime.

That doesn’t solve if we’ve got a grid of pixels... this just adds extra channels at the end of the grid.

True, But the only fixtures I've encountered with UV on them are uplights and some larger wash lights. Things you wouldn't pixel map each cell with. What are you trying to map? Are they making LED rope lights with UV now?

It is possible to add another color channel, but to be able to drive it with video we'd need to find a rgb value that can be used to represent that channel's output when hitting a white surface.
Since this fixture also incorporates a white channel we're only able to use two color components at most for any other channel (since the lowest component is zero'd out and sent through the white channel instead). For amber we're using 255, 130, 0. This works because it only uses red and green. For purple we'd have to use just red and blue. Would you say that something like 179, 0, 255 would be an accurate representation of the uv channel's output?

Or worst case (for the moment), Maybe just adding a blank spacer as the UV section, so users could build custom fixtures using RGBWA (not using the UV) but they can still build the fixtures (without UV functionality) and get some looks out of them?

Yeah, just a spacer channel is fine.... UV is supposed to be outside the visible spectrum anyhow, so I’m not bothered if it doesn’t get used.

Although being able to manually use the UV would be good in the future.

To bring this back to the devs attention.
I have a very messy setup, because each pixel has to be mapped individually, instead of a pixel-strip.

Please allow to add the ability to add a spacer channel to each pixel
