Find brightest parts of an image

Post by col-neck »

I am pretty new to wire and I try to create an effect that draws many lines between the brightest parts/blobs of an incoming texture.

I thought I'd take the Line Trails from the examples as a starting point but I even struggle to find a way how to convert the pixel values (bright pixel) from a texture to data, that I could use as the inputs for the line segments..

Any help is appreciated!
Cheers,
Jonas

This is not possible in the recent version of Wire, but we're working on it and it might become possible with the next update...

How would you draw lines between these points using 7.19.2?

Code: Select all

I will draw lines and just mask out the brightest part of the texture and fill those with the lines.

like this
phpBB [video]

If I read the original question, I think that's what he's after.

For anybody who likes I compiled it into a effect. Usable in avenue and arena and editable in wire.... Have fun with it.....

Thanks for your replies. It's a nice effect, that you created tijnisfijn but I thought of something different: I'd like to draw lines b e t w e e n the bright parts, e.g. to connect the lights in your example.. It seems that it's indeed impossible in the actual Wire version.
I couldn't copy and paste your patch, Arvol: it seems like it is made with a beta(?) version of Wire 7.20

OK then I misunderstood, that unfortunately is not possible at the moment, but hopefully will be in a update.

This was the patch

Then I was just trying to figure out how drawing lines between points was currently happening? lol
Assumed it was an ISF patch?
But yeah, natively in Wire there isn't a way currently.
