I keep finding issues when working with Wire files and versioning.
The fact that they automatically appear in Resolume is already a problem, as it clutters everything. As I add digits to my versioning, I end up with 20 files for the same Wire patch in the Resolume interface.
I also just discovered that manually changing the name of a file within Wire while compiling changes the file's name when viewed in Windows file explorer, BUT NOT when viewed from inside Resolume!!!!!
This is a big mess and a recipe for disaster.
This image shows the same file in both environments:

Re: Problems with versioning Wire files
Appearing in Resolume is literally the job of patches.
You can move the patches out of the patches folder if you don't want them to appear.
Versioning and naming should be done in Wire, before compiling the patch.

Re: Problems with versioning Wire files
The patch name, and Unique ID is encoded in the file. Everything is based on the IDs, not the names.
Changing the file name won't change those, or make them unique.
When improving an existing patch you published, you don't want the patch ID to change, so your and your user's presets still work with the new.
If you want to make a new plugin, with a new ID, you can do a Save as in Wire.
