hey..
just wanted to know a bit about video capture in resolume. I tested some of it with a webcam. it worked well, you cant' expect much from it anyway.

i know you can capture using firewire, but i need to capture using rca cuz i have to transmit wireless video and don't want to buy a big firewire cable. what would be a good solution? i have seen many people with problems using tv turners and resolume, so i am not considering one of those. has anyone tested the dazzle video caputre 80? or something like that?. i think it might work well, and its cheap, i don't want to buy it just yet because i don't know if it will work.

bye, and thanks.

you could use a analog -> dv converter, there are several brands available. It converts your RCA signal into DV which is much more reliable for resolume

Just thought I'd include our experiences:

When we've been using firewire for video it comes through interlaced and in high movement situations (pretty much all the time at a party with flashing lights) you end up with every second line being displayed a second later than it should be. This is a problem with windows as it occours in Amcap too.
Also firewire is previewed (and inevitably captured by resolume) in 1/2 resolution which makes the quality not alot better than a webcam.
For full screen full frame capture you really need a semipro capture card. Spend the money and you won't regret it.

Also a cheap TV card will no doubt cause problems too as all the cards we've dealt with are cheap asian cards (theres only 3 TV encoding chip on the market and every TV card uses one of these 3). All seem to have really stink drivers. Check vjcentral.com if you want to find more info.

well, i don't want to spend a whole lot of money on a pro capture card without knowing it will work for sure.

the analog to dv converters are a bit expensive and not very portable.

so, what i want to know is, what worked on resolume beside analog2dv... in a mid-priced solution.

or.. if anyone ever tested the dazzle capture device i mentioned earlier.

thanks

hi guys,

im using a pci tv card and it works well, it only stalls when the video settings are not correct(make sure the input to the card and the output to Resolume is set to 320-240) u can set it correct when u double click the name of your tv card in the generators section.
i bought the tv car for 69 euros at a local comp shop and i use the composite video plug with a normal camera.
works fine for me...

byt he way if u need some cool camerashit go to http://www.marmitek.com

good luck

I use a cheap tv tuner/capture usb1 crap > WINTV hauppauge > the quality (320X240) isn't so good, but enough with some filterwork.
Ports are: RCA+S-video
