I would like to assign MIDI commands to many parts of the Resolume interface, but without using a MIDI controller. How can I do this? Is there a way of directly entering MIDI assignments (noteOn, CCs, channel), possibly by editing a configuration file?
I am doing this because I want to control Resolume from other software (Ableton Live, Max MSP) over a virtual MIDI port. I have a list of MIDI messages I want to send, and want to be able to assign them in one shot. The MIDI controllers I have are not capable of sending *all* of the possible MIDI CC values (without programming), but I do need to use them. In fact, I want to use the values that my controllers *don't* send as the messages coming from the other software.
Possible to assign MIDI without a MIDI controller?

Re: Possible to assign MIDI without a MIDI controller?
You want to use a MIDI loopback device, like Hubis MIDI Loopback (here's some info http://www.dh38.dial.pipex.com/spge/kb/ ... 161821.htm) Search for "midi loopback" or similar.
Should be fairly straightforward..
Would be nice if Resolume worked via Rewire, but no
still a great product.

i dont think thats what gpvillamil is after, i think he has a virtual midi port already, like maple midi, or midi yoke.
Gpvillamil, you could try opening up the resolume midi.xml file and edit it manually
EDIT: ok thats not an option, the file is massive, and all on a single line, would be a nightmare to edit

Re: Possible to assign MIDI without a MIDI controller?
Yeah, lev, that's exactly it. I'm using MIDI Yoke drivers already (I've been using them for ages, works great with Resolume).
I could make a simple Max patch to send out MIDI note or controller values, but I would need to switch back and forth between Resolume and Max for this to work, and when Resolume loses focus, it also leaves MIDI learn mode.
I've used a Max patch on *another* computer, talking to the Resolume computer via Tobybear's NET2mid (http://www.tobybear.de/p_midibag.html) tools and a MIDI Yoke virtual port.
I've tried opening Resolume's MIDI XML file in NotePad++, so at least its not all in a single line, but still very awkward to edit.
