Just thought I'd post my findings on hires performance. I'm using a Athlon 1600 in a shuttle system, Geforce4MX 720x576 32bit scaled to 720x576 then maximised.
I use 720x576 clips with picvideo Mjpeg.
In general I get 2 layer playing with little if any slowdown 3 with some slowdown. What I did notice was when fading a clip in or putting fx's on there is a slight pause before it kicks in, i've found a solution, which is to drop an effect on the clip (i use darken with 0 effect) This seems to result in no pause when triggering clips/effects. Presumably the pause is down to the effect/mixing process going throught a buffer. I know most people will go for more FX than hires output but Im a sucker for good looking video, if I want FX and Lores I use Tranzendant, subtler stuff Resolume. Thats my tuppence anywayz...
