I noticed that craftycurate requested this yesterday, but it was lost with latest round of spam-cleansing.
It would be nice if clips could fade in (or transition) when triggered, instead of just activating.
Right now, getting smooth transitions between clips is this dance of:
1) Reduce opacity on layer 2 to zero
2) Trigger a clip on layer 2
3) Bring up opacity on layer 2
4) Trigger a clip on layer 1
4) Reduce opacity on layer 2 to zero
5) Trigger a new clip on layer 2
6) Bring up the opacity
...
etc.
Perhaps one way to do it would be to have, on each layer, a layer-to-layer composite mode (like it is now), and next to it have a clip-to-clip blend mode (same modes) with a transition duration. If a clip-to-clip blend mode is set, any time a clip is triggered into that layer, instead of coming in instantly, it would transition through that blend mode.
Incidentally, the A-B cross fader should have access to composite modes as well, so that you could, for example, do a wipe from A to B instead of always a crossfade. That would be awesome.

Re: [request] clip transitions when triggered
Yeah automatic transition/fade when triggering clips in the same layer is high on our list. But it requires quite an architectural change in the code so we do not know yet when we'll get to this. But it's an exciting feature for sure, will allow for an entire new style of working.

Yes - this would be a great addition.gpvillamil wrote:I noticed that craftycurate requested this yesterday, but it was lost with latest round of spam-cleansing.

Re: [request] clip transitions when triggered
this is GREAT news that it is on the radar screen... it would help open Avenue up as a more intuitive option for different types of events where the simplicity of a single clip and a smooth fade would be desired over the current crossfade option.
is there a logic of enabling the Cut - Fade - Transition time- option in the clip properties area... some clips would always work best as a a quick cut, while others would almost always work best on a predefined fade. disabling the clip-level option would default to the global property that resolume is running.
