FFGL: get beats or [comp/layer/clip] timing

I'm wondering if there is an undocumented way to get additional information from the FFGL host like the current BPM beat or the current timeline position of a clip playing?
For example, I want to make a strobe plugin which is bound to BPM. At the moment I think about an input parameter which gets linked to the BPM, however the user has to do this! - Is there another way to get this kind of information?
