videomapping a graphic EQ. effect

Hi guys,

Im veteran animator but a newbee on resolume & realtime effects, so pls forgive me when i post silly questions for now .

I want to map a graphic equalizer effect by projecting audio responsive colored bars onto some real objects that are positioned on a stage. I guess i should use the audio analysis function in resolume to drive parameters for the specific graphic elements that i want to respond to the audio? For instance.. I would like to isolate low(base) audio frequencies (the audio input comes from the dj) and make a certain block/bar/graphic bounce like a graphic EQ. Basicly i hope that i can make the audio control the position or scaling of a clip.. or perhaps control the position of a mask which will reveil or hide a portion of the underlying graphic based on the audio input.

Any tips or insights are very appriciated.

Thx Mark

While I'm sure you could do this with Flash with excellent results, you could also do this almost entirely inside resolume. The results may not be quite as nice but I have yet to try it so I cant say for sure.

Create a solid square with a transparent in photoshop and save it.
Assign the image to a layer.
Make the height of the object react to the sound
Adjust sensitivity and frequency response as desired.
Repeat for each eq band

Yes, it's a messy configuration but it would work
