Crash on preference change...

Post by Projectionfreak »

I seem to be able to replicate this every time. Preferences->Video->Disable global effects & blend modes

Not that this preference is entirely necessary for me ....but-
When I deselect....CRASH.
Right now, my output is from the Radeon card....does this have to do with an openGL issue?

Everything else is stable as can be with excellent frame-rates! Great piece of software folks!

MacPro, Quad 2.8, 14gb, Radeon HD 2600 and BM Studio 2, Running Arena 4

I'm having a related issue with this particular preference too, Jeff. Not sure if they are part of a similar problem.

Hitting Disable Global Blends (LED goes green) actually REMOVES the text from the Layer Global blend dropdown. When the LED is off, they return. The GUI seems back to front.

Also, even if I do get the "Add" text back, I have no other blend options in the dropdown. I did have these in the Arena 4 Beta 2 version.

Just throwing this into the mix, sorry, blend... LOL

@Projectionfreak

I can't recreate this on our end. Could you use the Feedback option in the Prefs to send us your logfile?

@indyLd

The wording of the Disable Global Blend Modes and Effects is indeed misleading, since you're turning *on* something that turns things *off*, but it does work as it should. When you are not seeing any blend modes if this function is turned off, you probably also are not seeing any effects. This has to do with old folder locations that disappeared when removing the beta. Simply point your effects to the new correct location via the video and audio preferences tabs of the preferences, restart, and they'll be back.
The default directory for effect plugins is:
FFGL (video):
MAC: Macintosh HD/Applications/Resolume Avenue 4.x/plugins/vfx/
PC: C:\Program Files\Resolume Avenue 4.x\plugins\vfx\
VST (audio):
MAC: Macintosh HD/Applications/Resolume Avenue 4.x/plugins/afx/
PC: C:\Program Files\Resolume Avenue 4.x\plugins\afx\

@Goto10

Thank you, after posting I did notice that the video plugins folder remained set to the Beta 2 folder, that was no longer there.

Fixed the folder location, restart and now the Disable seems to works as it should. Previously, because the folder location was broken, it looked like it was working in reverse.

Really enjoying working with this.
