so i have a 2048x768 file that will actually be split in half using slices and be sent to separate screens. Is it better or worse for cpu load to do this as apposed to using to separate files @ 1/2 the width and trigger simultaneously?

In my experience I've found that more layers eats up fps faster then high res footage. If your using the DXV codec you shouldn't have to worry about CPU usage as it has GPU hardware acceleration. I would recommend that you try your best to get the content originally encoded to DXV, I find that converting to DXV after creates a lot of artifacts.
All that said you really should create some test footage. Your hardware setup could react differently the mind.
Good luck

It's better to use one file, as you could get little frame drifts when using more files and want to let them play in sync.
