I had this problem too, but the problem was (as VJZoo says) in the external disk. Everytime I unplugged my disk from my laptop and plugged in some other computer it changed its drive letter. How can this happen anyway? ;)

i also heard something about 3dgraphics, 3d masking, multi effects in each layer, multi screen setup.

I have been getting this "blue death" a lot and i figured up why. My problem was that I've installed the newest drivers for my graphic card (Intel) from Win Update.
Try to switch to your source drivers (the ones that came with your laptop) - if this doesn't help you, then I don't know any other ...
