Free Software - My Recommendation of the Month "June 2025" "NestDropV2"

Post by bennoH. »

I've decided to present a piece of software here once a month, if possible, that might be of interest to Resolum users.

& This time, it's a free version of a pure Windows software that comes with an integrated spout. If your GPU is powerful enough, you can integrate (output) it in Arena/Avenue at up to 8K or even higher. You also get thousands of presets, which basically means you're so well-stocked with content and footage that you won't have to get anything else of it for a long time.

I've finally installed after long wished & years now "NestDrop Classic V2"
(V2 only for Win 10/11 but V1 run under Win7)
https://nestimmersion.ca/nestdrop.php
and MilkDrop's, and I've given so Resolume Arena a cool new source of 100K&+ free footages or contents via the NestDrop integrated spout, all for free unbelievable!!

And so I must say it is a real joy to play around with it and I highly recommend NestDrop Classic, especially to Arena or Avenue users. I would like to thank Isosceles very much for this fantastic and generous gift and can imagine upgrading to the paid version one day, which isn't exactly expensive either. The huge number of MilkDrops, or plugins, that are available for NestDrop on the internet absolutely free of charge make this software even more interesting as a Resolume Arena/Avenue extension or as a standalone. An astonishing variety is offered in really good quality and NestDrop's sound control, as well as the simple, uncomplicated operating elements, are very user-friendly and ideal for newbies to VJing or even for those with absolutely no experience, for at home at a birthday party or even at a large event for VJ pros who can liven things up in Arena with effects and slices until it's a flyover.

You can already find many thousands of additional free presets on the NestDrop website, but here is a link to, unbelievably but true, to get +100K free presets:

Here you'll find a very good and detailed one-hour tutorialvideo at YT from one of the developers himself, Patrick Pomerleau.
All you need to know and do now is define the image output size, i.e., the format of the native spout sender, using the gear wheel in the NestDrop2 main window in the Decks tab and then under "Output." Then you can open a "Queue Window" using the icon with the four rectangles and a plus sign in the main window, if it's not already visible, and select one of the four spout send channels in the menu of the "Queue Window" under Deck 1/2/3/4. This will give you the NestDrop2 output signal available under Sources in Arena/Avenue. You can then drag and drop that onto a clip and mix it with other clips on other layers in Arena to your heart's content, or add effects to it:

& Here you can find the result of a little experiment that came about out of a long boredom and which I did using NestDrop-V2 in my Resolume Arena:

I am only positively surprised and can just say again:
Thank you very much the founders of NestDrop2 Patrick Pomerleau & Jason Fletcher aka Isosceles like Ryan Geiss and the rest of the Team!
