Bypass effect fading?

Controlling Resolume using Bitfocus Companion

I have three layers, all showing the same content but different sizes.
I have three buttons that adjust the crop of each layer (50%, 75%, 90%) I do this by applying crop effect to the layer instead of clip so that I can have three buttons controlling all three layers.
Is there a way to apply a fade to the effect bypass as there is with clip transitions?

Otherwise a different way of working to keep it smooth and have as few buttons as possible.

There is no fade for the bypass-button. You could however animate the opacity-fader with play once and hold and make shortcuts for those 2 little forward- and backward buttons. Or you animate the other crop parameters, if you don't want to have a blend but a smooth transform from one crop to the other.

So, moving between these options is quite clunky. I have the option to make commands wait for one to finish etc.

This is a screeny of the three crop options I want for this layer, and there's going to be the same for two other layers. Have you got a 'best practice' idea for how to time it so I'm not seeing three crops adjust at the same time?

Would it be a idea to make three groups - put the three crop effects as separate clips on the top layer in every group - put that layer's blend mode on cut so you will only see that layer. Then you can trigger the difference crops and even fade between them with the layer transitions. Or go fancy and use some other transition.

If you use groups, you could even decide to not use a crop effect, but just simple solid white squares as a mask.

This set up will also allow you to easily map the different clips/crops/solids to buttons, and you can also map the transition time and different transition modes if you would like. I hope this helps you out.

In the end I decide to make a clip for each crop and one with no crop on three layers (as they are different sizes of the same content), and when selecting clip from layer A, bypass layer B and C, selecting layer B bypasses A and C etc, as there won't be changing of sizes during a service, just changing of crops. My buttons on companion just select all three clips at the same time as two won't be seen from the bypass.

Do need to look into groups though! Going to have a play around with that suggestion.

Nice that you got it working.

If it's always the same content on all three layers, you could also replace all the content the bottom layer of group 2 and 3 with a one video router that shows you the content from layer 1. that way those groups will only have your crops/masks and a video router on the layer below.
