Control Resolume with a touchscreen ?

Post by VJ GoodWaves »

Hello fellow VJs,

Has anyone here ever had the crazy idea of running your whole set from a touchscreen?
There are so many amazing effects, so many clips and layers I juggle in Resolume Avenue using an Akai Mini plus the usual keyboard/mouse setup, that I always end up frustrated — not enough time, not enough hands and eyes to tweak the intensity of this or that parameter the way I’d like.

After digging through every possible MIDI option, I’m wondering : could a touchscreen actually be a serious solution to consider?

I’m working on a MacBook Pro M1.
Thanks in advance for any tips or feedback!

Try the Rest-API examples from a tablet https://resolume.com/support/en/restapi

Thanks for this lead Zoltán : it’ll take some time to study, test, and approve it 😉

Personally, I have used touch screens and I'm not too keen on them.

I've used them mainly for triggering clips as you get all the thumbnails, which is invaluable, but at the same time it's way too easy to trigger the wrong thing, especially if you're doing things fast.

A physical controller doesn't even need to be looked at, you can feel your way and touching a button without pressing doesn't do anything, which is good.
