Arena freezing when moving effects around

I just updated to Mac Tahoe and I'm seeing the same issue. I drag effects from the effects panel to a clip, and it appears that while I'm dragging, the video freezes multiple times very visibly, perhaps every time I pass the mouse through other clips and video previews while dragging... I'm also on an M1 Mac.
