all you need is a midi connection (often possible over a midi-keyboard with midi in and out connection, you may need a miditousb-interface) between the pc/lap running res and the one running ableton live. what you do now is use the midi-out possibility of ableton live to trigger your video-clips in res (of course you can assign the midi-note sent out of ableton to every midi-assignable controller in resolume).
when you open ableton first check midi-settings in help->options (check help-file how to do this right, midi-out has to be 'on'). on startup there should be several empty midi-channels already- doubleclick in to one line of any of those midi-channels. now this line gets coloured (with a little play-sign to the left) and you should have the possibility to draw notes into the lower big window. as you can see this window is set up like a piano- starting from C#0 going up to i don't know c#8- so this are exactly the notes you can use. draw in one note somewhere in 'timeline', let's say note d#4, press play in the coloured line of the midi-channel (the one you just edited), and voila, note d#4 is sent to resolume. test this by opening midi-setup in resolume, double-click on an item to assign, and wait a little until ableton plays the note again (or press play again in ableton). don't know if it's understandable or if i forgot something, but together with ableton help files you should be able to work it out. otherwise just ask again....
