BCR2000 question, and active effect layer questions

Heyy,

I have a question. I am using a BCR2000 as my controller, though I find it very discouraging that no midi out information is being sent to the controller. So if I try to fade out an effect layer, it will cut out immediately, depending on where the fader was last. What are people doing to deal with this? is there a setting within the program to fix this?

Also, is it possible to apply an effect to the active video layer using a shortcut?
